MESSAGES
Dear Colleagues
On behalf of the International Board of Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (IBSES) I wish to extend a warm welcome to you all on your arrival in Costa do Sauipe. Every three years our international conference (ICSES) is held in a host city around the world . This is the first time that it has been held in South America and the local organising committee are justly very proud and have worked enormously hard to arrange the meeting so that it will be successful both academically and socially. The programme committee have chosen the best papers and arranged them in the most interesting groups in the free paper sessions. There are also instructional update symposia and workshops by the most eminent speakers in the shoulder and elbow world. I have no doubt that you will greatly appreciate these aspects of the conference.
We are a very special group and meeting every three years gives us a great opportunity to make new friends and renew old acquaintances. The venue is superb and will encourage every one to meet together and enjoy the occasion in a relaxed and carnival atmosphere.
Welcome to Brazil and Costa do Sauipe.
Stephen Copeland
Chairman
International Board of Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons
Thank you and welcome to the 10th ICSES!
This Meeting started on April 22, 2001, when Robert Cofield, IBSES chairman, announced in Cape Town that Brazil would host the 2007 Meeting. Since then, we have been planning, thinking, and reaching our goals.
With Adalberto Visco, we stablished the Executive Committee. “Beto” Visco committed himself to this journey tirelessly. First of all, thanks to him.
Thanks also to the International Board of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery (IBSES). Mr. Copeland and the entire group were always supportive.
Thanks to the Scientific Committee, a truly international team for the first time. Your decisions and ethics made the scientific program respected.
Thanks to Monica, Marilise, and Livia. The social program is a special attraction of the Meeting itself.
Thanks to the Industry. Certainly your generosity will return as you wish.
Thanks to our colleagues from Asia, Oceania, Europe, Africa, and America. Thinkers, researchers, and just “doctors” who traveled a long way to Sauipe. It is now time to discuss, learn with each other, and bring advances to the bedside of our patients. Doing so, we will provide quality of life, energy to work, and happiness to our fellows everywhere.
8 Instructional Courses with 32 updated lectures, 248 Oral presentations, 292 posters, 5 Symposia with 20 state-of-art conferences, 10 workshops from industry, and the traditional Codman Lecture delivered by Louis Bigliani will be the scientific structure of the 10th ICSES.
Now mixture it with easy afternoons, great night attractions, delicious baiana cousine, the oceanside beauties of Sauipe, and the collegiability of more than 1.600 people, and you will experience the 10th ICSES.
Started with Lipman Kessel in London in 1980, and supported by the most prestigious shoulder and elbow surgeons since then, the Meeting reaches its 10th edition with the same philosophy and mission.
We thank and welcome you. Have a great Meeting,
Osvandré Lech / Sérgio Checchia
